Pastor W. Lamont Ewell & Evangelist Kijuanna Wilson-Ewell, AKA Lady Kiki, gained a love for Community, after leaving the family church in 2009, when God spoke about a very specific calling, that needed to be ignited outside of the four walls of the church. While seeking God for their next move, they started a Community Bible Study out of his Mother's Dining room. Each week it grew, and grew, until they finally moved into the Alison Hill Community Center in 2010. Although the Bible Study continued to grow, God spoke to Pastor Lamont about his next move, and they began to attend a ministry in the City of Harrisburg Pa. This was definitely not a traditional move, as the congregation was predominantly white, with a completely different style of worship. But God was clear that this was a very intentional move, where there was a lot to learn and a lot to teach. While attending this church, Pastor Lamont was asked to lead a weekly Life Group and Lady Kiki lead worship. The spirit of God began to resonate in the minds and hearts of the people in the life group and they wanted to go outside to see if the word being preached, could be proven. This is where Lamont and Kiki's organization Beat the Streets Ministries was born. During their time in the Streets of Harrisburg Pa, they fell in love with Street Evangelism. This was a way of meeting people on their terms with no hidden agendas. They didn't even promote Church. Just the love of Christ. Some of these people were so broken, but God would always show up. Not only did this increase their faith, but it also began to increase the faith of the church members who decided to get outside of the four walls. When they would walk, people would always say, "We hate the Church, but we love you guys. You should start a Church. If you do, we'll come." Lamont and Kiki would laugh at the idea of starting a Church, because that was never in the plan. Lamont is a second-generation Preachers Kid, who saw a lot and never fully fit the mode of a "Church Boy." and KiKi's family was from the other side of the tracks, and she definitely didn't fit the mode of a "Church Girl." But in 2016, after the Lord spoke a word, "If you build it, they'll come." they finally decided to open up Freedom in Christ Fellowship. This Church has been a blessing to so many and continues to evolve. Pastor Lamont and Lady Kiki are grateful that God chose them, flaws and all. They will continue to listen to the voice of God, and where He leads, they'll follow.
Special Dedication:
We would love to Thank our children Ania, Nehemiah, Noah, Noriah and Neziah for being so patient with us over the years. It's not easy being a PK, but you guys have been so supportive. You were the ones setting up and tearing down the hall for the first two years and continued to build the church in every way since. You guys were the ones that loved on us when we were hurt from the church. And you were the ones who stood by us, even when we were not at our best. We love you so much and wouldn't trade you for anything in this world. You are our Greatest Gifts.
Love Mom and Dad
